• Sameer Grover is an author, poet, teacher, and lover. He is the author of The Prince and the Potter, as well as numerous short stories, poems, articles, and essays.

Sameer was born on April 13, 1980 in Hamilton, Ontario to his father Ashok Kumar and to his mother Meenakshi.  Five years later his brother Shawn was born.  Sameer began writing at a very young age.  As a young boy of about five to six years old, at Earl Kitchener elementary school in Hamilton, Sameer was known equally for his creative and imaginative stories as well as for his prowess in mathematics.

Sameer began writing poetry when he was in high school at Westdale Secondary School.  Throughout his years at high school and university it was poetry that was his most preferred genre of writing.  It would be several years before he returned to other forms of writing again.

Sameer graduated with an honours degree in mathematics and statistics from McMaster University in 2003 after four years of study- in addition to which he would later study English and religion.  It was during his time at McMaster that his interest in spiritual life blossomed, and that he learned the practice of meditation.

In 2004, Sameer attended the University of Auckland in Auckland, New Zealand where he completed his Diploma in Teaching.  This time spent in Auckland was a period of great personal transformation for Sameer and it was here that he began to develop his skills and his craft as a writer.  While in Auckland he wrote several pieces of short fiction and began to discover his niche as a writer.

Sameer then spent parts of the next three or so years teaching mathematics, English, and creative writing at the secondary level. During this time he completed The Prince and the Potter which is his debut novel.
