• If I should err,
Then allow me to err on the side of compassion,
    Wisdom, mindfulness, and right action
    Right thought, livelihood, and speech
This is what the enlightened ones teach

On this path with heart, we make no mistakes,
So long as we are willing and able to learn
Oh bodhisattvas, the time has come to awake,
And let the lantern of love burn

Let it burn furiously through the night,
And well into the next morning
From the steady fire of this light,
Even the coldest of hearts will soon be warming

    If I should err,
Then allow me to err on the side of compassion,
    Wisdom, mindfulness, and right action
    Right thought, livelihood, and speech
This is what the enlightened ones teach

On this Earth here together, we inter-are
Your brilliant eyes are but a mirror
    A reflection of shining stars
Through whose image I can see clearer

The destiny that seems so far
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,
And although at times it may seem hard
We will continue to walk until only love is left

    If I should err,
Then allow me to err on the side of compassion,
    Wisdom, mindfulness and right action
    Right thought, livelihood, and speech
This is what the enlightened ones teach
